‘Now Playsafe’: Texas nonprofit launches free interactive online safety game for kids

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Parents have a new tool to help their kids learn health online habits.

Not On Our Watch Texas has created a free online game designed to teach children how to recognize red flags.

The nonprofit launched “Now PlaySafe”, an interactive game that places kids in a simulated chat room with friends and an online stranger.

Players navigate interactions that include grooming tactics and inappropriate image requests. After each interaction, the game explains how to properly handle the situation. Each play-through ends with a quiz to solidy what you’ve learned.

Warning signs the game teaches children to recognize include when an adult asks for personal information, asks to keep conversations secret, or tries to meet in person.

The online safety training became available to parents and children in July.

A formal community launch was held Thursday in Lubbock.

Now PlaySafe is available to play online for free now.
