Deep East Texas agencies participate in active shooter drill at Lockheed Martin in Lufkin
LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - An active attacker drill tested emergency readiness and multiagency coordination Friday at Lockheed Martin in Lufkin.
“The most important takeaway is that this was not about testing individual agencies in isolation,” Lufkin Police Chief Travis Brazil said. “It was about evaluating how effectively our entire public safety response system functions together during a critical incident.”
The simulation walked through the full emergency response from Angelina County agencies, from initial law enforcement dispatch to patient transport by emergency medical services.

Independent assessors from the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) program observed and critiqued the response, deeming it an overall success, according to a press release.
Participating agencies included the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Department of Transportation, Lufkin Fire Department, Texas Department of Emergency Management, and Woodland Heights Medical Center, among other local partners.
“Our goal was to identify weaknesses before we face a real-world emergency,” Brazil said.
Officials plan to use the feedback from ALERRT assessors to address vulnerabilities and refine interagency coordination for future critical incidents.
