Darrell Greene
Anchor, reporter
Charlotte, NC

Darrell is a broadcasting veteran with over three decades of experience. He brings a wealth of knowledge, compelling storytelling, and a unique perspective forged through covering some of the nation's most impactful events.
Hailing from Dermott, Arkansas, Darrell's journey into broadcasting began exceptionally early, earning his FCC Class III license and hitting the airwaves at just 16 years old. He earned a BA in Journalism, minoring in Political Science at Arkansas State University, where he also lettered as a football player for two seasons.
His career in television began as a sportscaster, serving as Sports Director in Montgomery, Huntsville, and New Orleans. Darrell won several local, state, and regional awards, including twice being chosen by his peers to be honored by the National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Hall of Fame. He also won awards for anchoring more than 14 hours of live coverage from Atlanta during the 1996 Olympic bombing. During his career in sports, he covered the New Orleans Saints, two Super Bowls, several NCAA basketball tournaments/Final Fours, two College World Series, and served as a sideline reporter for The NFL on FOX.
In 2004, Darrell transitioned to news, a pivotal move that saw him anchoring morning news in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005. His tireless, empathetic reporting during that historic devastation, even as his own home was damaged, provided a deeply personal and invaluable perspective on community resilience. For the last 15 years, he has served as an evening anchor in Memphis, where he amassed numerous Emmy nominations for his impactful reporting on everything from environmental issues to the 50th commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination.
Beyond the newsroom, Darrell is deeply committed to community service, having served as a governmental advocate and board member for Beyond Type One and working with organizations like the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, and many veterans' services.
Darrell is married to "the prettiest girl on the planet" and has two brilliant and beautiful daughters who are both pursuing careers in medicine. In his spare time, Darrell is an "incredibly awesome guitar player" (currently seeking a heavy metal band!), a below-average golfer, and famously makes the best New Orleans gumbo in the world. He dreams of someday flying a fighter jet and is a devoted dog dad, wishing for a yard big enough to adopt all the dogs.
