Trinity High School cheerleader to perform in 86th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

TRINITY, TX (KTRE) -

For some people, performing at the Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is only a dream. But for one Trinity High School cheerleader, that dream is about to come true.

"I'm quite honored and I'm very, very excited to go," Amy Beth Pyle said.

While attending a cheerleading camp with her varsity squad earlier this year, the 17-year-old received an opportunity to try out to perform in the parade.

"If you excel, your leader will recognize you," Pyle said. "You'll receive a ribbon and they will go from there."

A co-captain for her high school team, Amy wowed the judges with her two-man stunting skills.

"You're holding somebody else's body weight on top of yours and you're balancing them up to make sure they don't fall backwards," Pyle said. "It's a lot of technique. People make it look easy, but it's really not."

After being nominated by the National Cheerleader Association, Amy began the journey to learn the tough routine.

"It's about two-and-a-half minutes and you have to learn two parts because when you get there you don't know what part you are going to be in until they assign it to you. You definitely have to practice," Pyle said.

Amy was the only cheerleader picked out of East Texas to participate in the event and will be joining 110 cheerleaders from the Lone Star State. There will be a total of 1,200 cheerleaders in total and over 10,000 participants.

"I am kind of nervous just to go by myself because you are in a sea of 1,200 cheerleaders and that doesn't even include the dancers and everyone who participates in the fair," Pyle said. "But I'm super excited to walk around Times Square."
