Hayden Panettiere’s cause of death has been released

GREENVILLE, S.C. (Gray News) — Actress Hayden Panettiere’s cause of death has been released.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office confirmed to Variety on Tuesday that Panettiere died from an overdose of fentanyl mixed with other drugs.

“The cause of death has been ruled as toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, Alprazolam, Methocarbamol and Quetiapine,” the coroner said in a statement to Variety. “The manner of death has been ruled accident.”

4-ANPP is a precursor in illicit fentanyl production. Alprazolam is commonly known as Xanax, an anti-anxiety medication. Methocarbamol is known as Robaxin, a prescription muscle relaxant. Quetiapine is known as Seroquel, an antipsychotic medication typically used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder.

Her manner of death was ruled an accident.

Panettiere, 36, was found unresponsive in an apartment in Greenville, South Carolina, on Aug 16. Her on-and-off boyfriend Brian Hickerson and his brother Zach Hickerson were at the home.
