Family finds megalodon tooth while visiting the beach
SEA ISLE CITY, N.J. (WTAE) – A Pennsylvania family’s vacation to a New Jersey beach turned into a prehistoric treasure hunt.
The Bowers family from the Pittsburgh area said they discovered a megalodon tooth while searching for shells at Sea Isle City beach.
The father said he noticed something unusual inside a rock. He called over his son, who then helped pull out the tooth.
“I looked down and I was just astonished, but I couldn’t fit my hand in there,” Mike Bowers said. “I’m screaming like a crazy man over there for him to come running over because of his small hand.”
The Cape May Whale Watch and Reserve Center has since confirmed the discovery.

“I was just like really excited,” Bowers’ son, Bo, said.
The Bowers said they intend to keep the tooth.
